A different type of rent is host rent. In this case, the tenant lives with the house owner. If one rents a room of the house owner, one is subjected to a trial period of nine months. During this trial period, the house owner is free to force the tenant to leave. Similarly, the tenant has a notice period of three months in which they may freely terminate the rent. Therefore, the tenant has some tenancy rights and is protected from unexpected homelessness. Within the trial period of nine months, the tenant does not have security of tenure. After these nine months, the tenant does have security of tenure.
