The National Student Union is a federation; an association of local student organisations in student cities. The member unions jointly determine the vision of the LSVb and select and monitor the activities of the LSVb board. In addition to the connections with countless study and student associations that the LSVb already has, it keeps a close eye on what is going on in student cities, both at the institutions and the associations in those cities, through its member unions. Moreover, most member associations are umbrella organisations for study and student associations within their student city. This means that the LSVb currently formally represents 273 local associations throughout the Netherlands, ranging from sports clubs to student corps. This makes the LSVb the largest student organisation in the Netherlands. Below is an overview of the member associations.
