If you wish to pursue a full bachelor’s or master’s degree abroad, in many cases you can apply for Dutch student financing. The conditions for this are that you are eligible for Dutch student financing, you do not receive a study grant from a foreign government, and the education you are going to pursue is of sufficient quality. A comprehensive overview of the conditions can be found on the DUO website.
If you wish to make use of this, you must complete DUO’s form Application for student financing abroad for higher education no later than three months before your departure. You can also use this form to authorise someone to arrange your student financing matters during your absence.
It is currently unclear how many students will be able to apply for transferable student financing. A limit may be imposed on the number of applications. We therefore advise you to apply as soon as possible to ensure that you receive financial support during your studies.
Take a look at www.wilweg.nl. This website contains all the information you need about studying abroad. You will also find beursopener here, a programme that allows you to see immediately whether you are eligible for other grants. In addition, you can use the Wilwegwijzer to discover your options abroad.
