Validity period of examination marks

Can my examination marks expire?

Examination results are in principle valid indefinitely. However, the governing body of your university or college may limit the validity period in certain circumstances. Your exam marks may only expire if the knowledge, insights or skills tested are demonstrably outdated. No other grounds for expiry of marks are permitted by law. You can always request the Examination Board to extend the validity period of your study results (if they are about to expire).

The OER (Education and Examination Regulations) for your programme must include rules on the validity of study results. If you still have questions about the validity of your study results, or if you cannot reach an agreement with your institution, please contact our Student Helpline.
